US President Barack Obama’s campaign is about to start accepting small donations via test message for the first time.
The Obama campaign said today that it’s wrapping up agreements with T-Mobile USA, Cellular, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless to allow donations by text message this week. They also added that donations via AT&T were expected in the near future.
Text message donations are capped at $10 per text, $50 per month and $200 in total for one campaign or candidate. People under 18, corporations, and foreigners are prohibited from donating.
The Obama campaign added: “As we push through the last 100 days of this election, we remain focused on making this campaign as accessible as possible to the small-dollar donors that are the heart and soul of our organization.”
