Looks like the rumours are true! Apple has sent out press invites today to an event on October 23rd, where they will almost certainly announce the iPad Mini. The multi-coloured inviation features the Apple logo with the words “We’ve got a little more to show you”, “Little” likely being a hint at the device. The device is set to take on Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets, Google’s Nexus 7 and likely put hurt on Microsoft’s Surface release.

I’ve seen many asking “What’s the point of an iPad Mini?” For a start not everyone wants a 10-inch tablet, the Kindle Fire sales have proven that a market is out there for a smaller tablet, and Apple is likely to fill that need for a lot of people. Also, the price tag will likely be much lower than the regular iPad model, meaning more people will be able to afford one.
