PayPlan the debt management firm, has put together an interactive map that charts debt levels of 40,000 people across the United Kingdom. The reason? To let those know that are struggling with debt that they aren’t alone.
The map can be searched by postcode so you can see what your area is like. It has over £3 billion of liabilities across debt management plans, bankruptcy, and IVA’s. The average debt is currently at £83,465, with those suffering shifting from those on low incomes in rented accommodation to include pensioners and home owners.
Payplan director, Jason Eaves, said:
We know that on average only one in six people with debt problems will seek help. Often these people feel isolated and alone and don’t know where to turn. What this map clearly shows is the scale of the problem throughout the UK and we want people to be aware that free debt help is available.
