Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S has the most lifelike screen yet

By Stephen Robinson @xstex · On 12 December, 2014

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Tab S tablet comes in two display sizes, a 8.4-inch version and a 10.5-inch version. They’re an upgrade to the company’s Tab Pros that released earlier this year. As well as spec bumps, the Galaxy Tab has an improved look and incredible looking displays.

Both models come with a colourful 2560 x 1600 pixel Super AMOLED screens, that’s 287 pixels-per-inch on the 10.5-inch and 360 pixels-per-inch on the 8.4-inch version, Samsung says both have a 100,000:1 contrast ratio. Having tried the Tab S myself I can confirm that the screen really is stunning, it’s super vibrant, crisp and rich, the colours really do pop. Samsung is truly at the top of the game when it comes to making displays.

Internally the Tab S models are exactly the same, with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, a 8-megapixel rear-camera, as well as an Exynos 5 Octa CPU with 1.9 and 1.3GHz quad-core processors.

In terms of pricing you’ll be looking at the around the same price as competing tablets. The Wi-Fi Tab S 8.5-inch will set you back £319/$399.99, the Wi-Fi Tab S 10.5-inch comes in at £399/$499.99. 32GB and 4G versions are also available.

On the software side the Galaxy Tab S features a ton of useful options, such as it’s multitasking which allows multiple windows to be opened side by side, and Samsung SideSync, this enables you to link your Samsung smartphone to your tablet to enable it to receive calls, transfer data, send texts and more right.

If you’re currently in the market and are a fan of Android, the Galaxy Tab S is one you should be looking at, especially for it’s specs and stunning display.
