Nokia is reportedly planning to release its much speculated Android ‘Normandy’ smartphone this month according to sources speaking to The Wall Street Journal.
Nokia started developing the Android phone before Microsoft made a deal with them to buy its handset business and license the company’s patents. The Android smartphone is said to be aimed at emerging market customers, and has been made so that it won’t promote some of Google’s key features like a traditional Android phone would. The version of Android it will be running is apparently heavily modified and looks a lot like Windows Phone (screenshots below). Nokia’s next planned event is at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month so it’s expected to be announced there.
