Nokia’s heavily rumoured and leaked Nokia X series of smartphones are official. While still looking very much like Windows Phone devices they’re actually running a heavily modified version of Android.
The X has a 4-inch (840 x 480 resolution) IPS display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage (expandable via microSD) and a 3-megapixel camera. The X+ has the same specs but adds more RAM (768MB) and includes a 4GB microSD card. The Nokia XL has a 5-inch WVGA IPS display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera with LED flash, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB storage (expandable via microSD).
Before you consider one of these devices it should be noted that none of them will have Google services built-in or the Play Store as Nokia will have its own store on the device which will include whatever Android apps they decide to include.
The Nokia X range will arrive in emerging markets in Q2 2014, so for now they won’t be hitting places such as Western Europe and the US.
