Peugeot marks 30 years of the GTi with the gorgeous 208 GTi 30th

By Stephen Robinson @xstex · On 13 October, 2014

Peugeot’s GTi series is iconic and much loved around the world and now the company is raising eyebrows again 30 years after the original release with the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th. The car has a gorgeous new look with glossy black and red decor, an elegant design, and has sharper handling and more nimble driving.

In terms of specs the 208 GTi 30th boasts a new 1.6L THP turbocharged petrol engine that developers 205bhp and 300NM of torque, beautiful 18-inch black matte wheels, 10mm lower suspension, a wider track at the front and rear, and a controlled braking system which allows 0 to 62mph in 6.5 seconds via a six-speed manual gearbox. With its optimised grip the 208 GTi 30th allows drivers to hold tighter paths and enjoy the twists of the road. This car is the best way to have a thrill on the road with recalibrate ESP and traction control, revised steering calibration and suspension as well as a lower centre of gravity.

The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th is also Euro 6 emissions compliant and comes with Peugeot’s Stop & Start tech and emits a 125g/km of CO2. Inside the car is a red and black trim, while the front seats have been developed by Peugeot Sport using mostly Alcantara. It’s compact steering wheel makes it easier to move the vehicle and chances driving sensations.

208 GTi 30th Project Manager Pierre Budar said: “Based on the 208 GTi, itself already a very effective and well powered car, our ambition was to focus on behaviour on the road, by further increasing its effectiveness. For this we have developed the traction and a potential for more grip, mainly on the front axle. The benefits are essentially in passing speeds, driving sensations and feedback.”
